Bike Slovakia: self-guided bike tours
Great biking trip, easy to use and well planned to avoid the busy roads. Daily routes are suitable for everyone and in every weather (many possible stops along the way). Numerous historical sites too see + traditional rural life. We enjoyed swimming in lakes too as we were biking during hot summer days.

Great way to explore Slovakia! Really nice roads, mostly with no or very low traffic. You have good opportunities to take a break at interesting places on a way and enjoy nice cities in the evening. Often there was even an opportunity to have a swim in a lake during the day that was amazing!

I love the idea of the whole concept! I definitely recommend! I did one of their bike tour and it was a great experience. Although it was around my hometown I got to places I've never been to. Communication with them was great - friendly, lot of great recommendations as I'm not a biker much, quick responses. Looking forward for next adventures with them.

Very well prepared bike trip through mountains in Slovakia. Maps with orientation points worked perfectly. Accomodation and transportation was very well arranged. I recommend for people who have no time to prepare bike trip through Slovakia by themselves but have courage to go on such trip by their own.

Bike Slovakia: self-guided bike tours
In August/September 2023 I rode Bike Slovakia’s Road Route from Bratislava to Košice, and it was an absolutely amazing trip! The Road Route is very well planned out and paced, traversing the length of Slovakia while passing through lovely scenery, famous cities, castles, and national parks. Everything about the trip went very smoothly thanks to Bike Slovakia’s planning and professionalism, from the bike, to the accommodations, to the pre-trip planning, to the written guide, and finally to the routes themselves.Braňo, the owner of Bike Slovakia, was great to communicate with before the trip. He took the time to help me customize the Road Route to include extra days in the more touristic areas of Banská Štiavnica, the High Tatras, Pieniny National Park, and Košice. I wanted the extras days to explore those areas more, and I could choose if I wanted to rest or do more biking. He was also very patient in answering all the many questions I had. During the trip I communicated with Braňo via Whatsapp, and he was really great with asking how my rides were and giving extra advice. He’s a really outgoing guy, and it’s evident how much he loves Slovakia and wants other to love it too.The cycling routes themselves are very well-designed and do a very good job at staying off high-traffic roads without sacrificing scenery. Whenever possible official bike routes and paths are used, such as riding out of Bratislava on Euro Velo Route 13 and in and out of Trenčin via very a nice cycling path along the Vah River. Bike Slovakia provides a very detailed written guide to accompany the routes, giving information on the cycling (such as where a big climb might be), attractions along the way, bike shops on the route, and recommendations for restaurants. I was given access to the written guide online before the trip, and it was really helpful in planning and learning more Slovakia. Really, I found the written guide exceptional and on par with commercially available tourist guides for Slovakia available in English. I’ve done other self-guided tours with different tour companies in Europe, and Bike Slovakia had the best designed routes and written guide out of any of them.I won’t lie and day that the full Road Route was easy. In total I rode 521 mi/838 km with 36,282 ft/11,059 m of climbing over 15 days. The routes averaged 80 km with just under 1000 m of climbing per day, though obviously some routes were shorter and/or flatter. Riding along the Morava River out of Bratislava is very flat, for example, while crossing the Low Tatras and riding to the High Tatras all in one day had lots of climbing. Bike Slovakia’s website details the daily routes’ distances and elevations, so you know what you’re getting into. On every route I still had plenty of them to do sightseeing tours, take pictures, eat, etc. In August/September I overall had nice sunny weather, though it was quite hot (38 C) at times and I got rained on once. I recommend the full Road Route for any cyclist who rides regularly and likes climbing and exploring places less travelled. I’m an avid cyclist from California who does a lot of riding in the mountains, so the elevation wasn’t a problem for me.If you don’t have time to ride the full Road Route or don’t think you have the physical ability, the individual rides themselves are very nice and I fully recommend doing a shorter route. Bike Slovakia has lots of recommendations on their site for how to split up the Road Route, such as splitting it in half or 3-4 day segments. Hint: Most of the mountains are between Detva and Košice, and I thought the most beautiful ride was the ride between the High Tatras and Pieniny National Park :).Slovakia is a very beautiful country, and I hope to travel there again soon! Overall I highly recommend Bike Slovakia for planning any kind of bike vacation in Slovakia, whether it be their full Road or Mountain Routes or a shorter trip centered around a single region or city. I can promise you won’t regret it!
